Monitor flickering problem, GPU?

Hi! I own the Asus ROG Swift pg278q monitor, I bought it about a year ago now and had no problems until now.

A few days ago i noticed that text looked more pixelated and unclear in 144hz and 120hz mode. and today when i boot the PC this happens in 144hz mode:

Can this be a GPU problem? If not. Can it be the Displayport cable?

edit: the grid is not actually on the monitor as it looks like in the video, the problem is the text if you look closer

Easiest way to tell would be to either try the monitor on another PC and see if you get the same issue. If you do then it would be the monitor or the cable at fault. Or you can try removing your graphics card and using the onboard video if your motherboard/CPU combination supports that.

You could also try using a different connection type, eg DVI or HDMI instead of DisplayPort.

At this stage you need to try and start ruling variables out. :)

I had the same issue with a recently new display port cable. Try HDMI or DVI and if the problem goes away, you need a new DP cable.
