Monitor flipped out

I have a 19" CRT monitor from ViewSonic and I've been using it for about two years. Yesterday I was playing a game and suddenly the screen got all black and the monitor made some clicking sound like it was changing resolution.
Now the screen is two small (black borders) and I can't increase the size and the image is really blurry. The colours are also off: dark areas are much too dark so you can't see anything and in some applications are different then what they're supposed to be.
Has anyone got any idea of what's happened? I havn't changed any settings so I don't have a clue what's wrong...
Any help appreciated.

That - or your monitor is on its way out. It seems strange that you can't change any display settings. Are you able to change the resolution settings in the operating system to see if they problem gets solved?
 
if its not responding, it may be on its way out as mentioned. They can do WEIRD things towards the end.

That's too bad..I've worked on 19" Viewsonic's and they have a damn good image too.
 
But the colours are all wrong and even though I have set the max width of the screen I still have a big black border. I tried to change some settings but it dosn't work. Isn't there anything I can do?

Try it out on another computer. If it works fine, it's your graphics card.
 
Yeah I tried to change the resolution but it dosn't work. Is it possible that it might be a virus or something similar?

Oh, and no - I don't think a virus can change your monitor's behaviour...
 
Lol I didn't see that we posted on the same minute. :D

I'll try that thanks for the help I'll come back and tell you if it works.
