monitor hum

samsung 215tw:

is it normal for monitors to hum at a high pitch? i mean, its not really that loud, its just annoying, i usually turn the tv on when on my PC, so it drowns the sound out. It's only in one corner too, so i figured that it may be on of the internal lights or something.

ive check the power cords, and other outlets, same problem (i knwo its not a ground loop)

My 215TW does not hum. I checked, becaues I had a 225BW & It developed a hum. Seemed to be near the control panel on the bottom right. I could tap on the back of the case & it would stop for a while. I regularly check my 215TW in case it is a common problem. No hum. only had it a few days. My 225 sounded like a transformer vibrating . Probably just some sympathetic vibration of something loose. Didn't appear to be the case though.

Try changing the refresh rate/resolution of the monitor. Sometimes just slightly nudging the monitor helps the hum.
