Monitor Mixup

I've been trying to play Rise of Nations recently, but anywhere from about five minutes to 45 minutes into the game, the game just randomly crashes. I tried updating my DirectX drivers (as suggested by Microsoft), but that didn't work...next was the video driver. When I rebooted the computer, everything was weird. The computer switched the settings so that my secondary monitor was set as the primary monitor. When I logged in, all of my desktop icons had been rearranged. I went into display properties, and set the actual primary monitor as the primary monitor, but the secondary monitor is still labeled as monitor "1", and the primary monitor "2"...it's really confusing, and on top of that, the task bar that is usually on the secondary monitor (put there be UltraMon) is instead on the primary monitor, above the normal taskbar.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I'd really appreciate the help..

Use ultramon to create a display profile.

Set all your monitors and settings the way you want them, and then set the "use this display profile on startup" option, and that way your multi-display will be set the way you want it every time you boot.

This is the way i do it, and have multiple display profiles. I have "Center" for when i'm playing a cpu-taxing game, i have "right" for watching movies in bed (my bed is off to the right) and i have multi, which is all 3 monitors, and i have it set to open the "multi" profile on bootup, so regardless of what profile i was using previously, every time i start my computer, the desktop is set to be one all 3 monitors.

Haven't had a single problem since i started doing it that way. Profiles are the key.

Thanks for the response...I'm not quit sure what I did, but it seems to be fixed. Well, except for my desktop icons, but I suppose I can rearrange those... :P
