Monitor on TV

I am trying to connect my monitor to my TV, whenever i used the NVIDIA control panal and change it to the TV, it's not the right resolution, i can't see the start bar, and probably about 1/4 of the screen, How can I fix this, should i get sometype of software? Thanks

I beleive what you are trying to say is that you are trying to use your tv as a monitor by connecting it to the video card. Are you trying a dual monitor setup or using the tv alone for the display? How are you connecting it? S-Video or DVI out? The tv has to be detected as a device by Windows and followed by the display manager for extended desktop settings.

You can also buy retail softwares like Ultramon for dual display setups or cloning desktops. You usually have to run a good search to find them however. Remember a tv will use a lower screen resolution by default. Most of time on newer models it is close if not 800x600. The input settings on the tv have to be set as well.

I'm using S video, and I tried both, duel and single for display's I also tried it at 600x800 on the PC, are you sayingh that i would have to change something on the TV aswell, thanks

Every TV actually runs with about 25% of the picture out of view. Anyone in video editing knows of the "safe zone" and how easy it is to get your titles off the screen and what not.

I can't say exactly the best way to fix it besides look around your videocard's setup. Usally they have adjustmens for the screen size and location. If you see an overscan option, you could try disabling that. Just realize it's next to impossible to have all the image on the screen without having a black border around the edges...

i've had my pc connected to my tv for many years now. make sure both displays are set at 1024 x 768. i've never gotten the whole image on the tv with any other combination. you should see the whole screen in both clone mode and extended desktop mode. i've tried it with both nvidia and ati cards. 1024 x 768 is what they should both be set at. unless you're connecting a widescreen tv, that's a different story.

With the older tvs you could manually adjust the picture where the screen actually shrunk inwards. But that's a crude display there. You end up with a good sized border and a somewhat distorted view. The center of the display then appears to be squashed. Resizing can be done to a small degree on the newer digital models.

But? The first thing to know is what resolutions are used on the make and model tv. Some now are dual tv/monitor type displays that will work better for this. You can use those for either application. Here's one place that describes how lcd tvs can also see use as a pc monitor.

Computers and video games
Most plasma and LCD TVs can double as computer monitors; many even offer a DVI port for optimal video quality. They'll also hook up to a game console without any problems. So which technology is better for these purposes? From a performance standpoint, it's hard to pick a winner. http://www.dtvcity.com/lcdtv/lcdtvresources.html
