Monitor problem

I inherited a 2 year old Gateway because it wouldn't even boot. I reformatted it and got it working like new again. Unfortunately, the monitor seems to have something loose inside of it. This all happened after the owner moved. Every now and then, the display starts fluttering and shrinking. If I press the top or bottom or sides, or tap it, it will straighten back out, temporarily. This is the older type 17" monitor so it wouldn't be expensive to replace. Is it worth doing anything with? I did make sure the cable was tight.

I would say no since, as you said it wouldn't be expensive to replace, and opening the monitor up is risky because CRTs contain huge capacitors which could kill you if it would discharge through your body by accidentally touching the leads.
