hey guys, i got a question, first off i know what im doing i check everything twice, computer and monitor worked fine one day the cpu fan dies i replace it, and i only do this nothing else, now monitor does not turn on, i tried 4 different monitors same thing, turn computer on, light on monitor goes from yellow to green and back to yellow, the things i have checked: graphics card(pci and agp)memory, hard drive, cables, even pulled the battery on motherboard, after everything still nothing, does anybody have any ideas maybe something im missing thanks

Do you hear the system act like a normal boot is still in process or nothing at all? Try reseating the video card to make sure that wasn't bumped up in the slot when opening the case to replace the cpu fan.

How about the 12v cpu feed? Did you unplug that when going to replace the cpu cooler and forget to plug that back in? That will stall a system fast there.

yeah it boots up as normal, no weird or funny noises, the graphics card hasent been bumped i tired it in different slots and tried other graphic cards, and i didnt forget to plug in the cpu feed, this is why im baffled i have done everything in my knowledge to fix this problem but yet i cant figure it out

I hope you're not seeing a bad slot on the board itself if the cards have been tested on other systems as well as the monitors. Check the bios setting for AGP/PCI to see if that is at AGP as well.

If you have any problems getting in there the battery itself for the board may be weak if no damage from overheating was seen. The other thought may be a need to update the bios itself if any of the programming information was corrupted provided nothing is wrong with the board itself. Make sure the onboard video if seen is disabled as well.

there is no onboard video, and i cant get a monitor to turn on to get into the bios

From all the information you have mentioned it does point at the board as being the problem there. With different cards and monitors also seeing different vga cables all those can be ruled out. The circuit that regulates video signal on the board may be no good since you apparently tried PCI as well AGP cards to get nowhere.

If the cpu had failed from overheating you wouldn't be hearing any normal boot process but stalled at post with a cpu failure message or constant beeping. Besides a bad slot ruled out with multiple cards tried some gpu chip probably let go on the board there.
