I have a NEC Multisync LCD1765 monitor. The problem is when I connect it to my pc I get NO Signal Going to Sleep! Message. I dont know what the problem it. I removed the back cover of the LCD unplugged the cables from the card and chip and put them back in and still same problem. Anyone know what I should do. This monitor is only 2 1/2 years old.

Thank You.

The problem may not even be the monitor but video card if you are not seeing anything come up. Sometimes a card will go silent without sounding off a beep code. Or it's simply time to replace a defective lcd?!

Have you tried another monitor? If you readily see a normal display then the lcd needs service or replacement. But if you still see nothing try a different card to see if that went. You can also try reseating the video card in case that is now lifted up in the slot itself.

I checked the monitor on my pc that works. I am running a samsung on my pc of course it works. The nec is from another pc. I plugged the nec to my computer to check and nothing.

If you don't see anything on another system as well as your own plan on tossing the Nec! I recently replaced an older 17" BenQ lcd when suddenly you had to fight to get it to display anything while booted in XP yet still worked in Vista.

That was 3 1/2yrs. old when replaced with a much better Viewsonic 19" widescreen model. The smaller Proview model being the first lcd here went in less time. Yet lcds are rated to last longer then crts?

I still have a Phillips 15" crt left outside on the front that has a vibrant full color range display and offered it to a friend who would rather use a beat up monitor with the top 1/3 of the screen garbled. The Phillips crt is now 7yrs. old and still sees a clear trouble free display for what it was.

You dont have your refresh rate and Resolution set to high for the NEC before you tried to see if it works.

The problem is that the menu comes up and then 1 sec disappears. I try to press the menu button but sometimes it comes up and sometimes it doesn't. If it does come up its only for a second. Anyone know what I should do, Is there like a reset for the monitor.

There's usually a set of small thin buttons next to the last on the left for the options menu on most lcds. As soon as you see the monitor's own menu try pressing another button for keeping that up as well as scrolling through the options like brightness, contrast, color intensity, etc. there.

Do you have another monitor you can at least borrow temporarily? If you can get the normal display with another lcd on it could be a defect with the one you have. But this will also show if the card or drivers are the problem. The initial installation generally will see the default 60hz refresh rate for most video cards out.
