We have 4 public access computers and are looking into purchasing new monitors. We have discussed flat screens but it has been brought up that damage to the screens by touching them etc. happens easily. Does anyone have any advise?

They are public access computers in a library. I can't always watch everyone who is on them!

Thanks for the site info.

if you want robust, go with CRTs. They are usually cheaper & have a glass face which makes them a little harder to scratch then LCDs, however they do take up more space on the desk than an LCD.

For looks, go with a LCD. As "nffc10" says, you can get screen protectors for LCDs and most monitor manufactures will have protectors available(for a price) for their LCDs (i know EZIO does).

However, normally these "protectors" just stop people from scratching & writing on the screen...where they fail, is that they dont really stop people from Poking the screens as the protectors are usually a slim piece of flexible plastic.
