ok, i think i know what a refresh rate is(seems pretty self-explanitory), but i dont exactly know what a good one is. for example i just read a post about how lower refresh rates are good for gaming, but why is this?? and is a higher refresh rate good for multitaking or does it really even matter for things like that??

your confusing refresh rates with response time. Refresh rates are with CRT monitors, and the HIGHER the better. Response time is associoated with LCD/TFT and the lower the better.

refresh rates and response times are for both crt and lcd. lower response time = more fps. Higher refresh rate = higher fps.
1000ms / response time = fps or refresh rate

I don't even fully understand what your saying here. especially this part.

1000ms / response time = fps or refresh rate

I've never seen refreash rate/response time explained using FPS so much before.

Response is measured differently by diff manufacturers sadly, but basically it's how long it takes a pixel on the LCD to go from gray back to gray. Like I said though its slightly different with diff. manufacturers.

I also think he is confusing response with refreash rates.
