monitor set-up

Ok, so at the moment I have one 17inch monitor. I want to get another larger monitor so that I can watch movies and television, play console games, and play computer games on it when I please.
So, I can get either a computer monitor or a television for my needs, unfortunately I've run into trouble with both of them.

LCD TV: I've hooked up a comp to an lcd tv (hi-def) to play WOW, with the picture unfortunately unable to be clear enough to read the on-screen text, which would be a big problem.
Is there any way to fix such a problem?

computer monitor: in order to do this I believe I would need a tv-tuner card, but all the tuner reviews I have seen say that the response time is like 2secs while playing console games.
Is there any way around this problem?

So, it seems that I may have to just buy one or the other and not have one large screen that can do everything. Hopefully you can find a way around my problems :)

(just fyi if necessary: comp monitor- 22in minimum, $300 budget.
LCD tv- $400 budget. 23in minimum

I believe some upper end lcd computer monitors have compostite and dvi/vga inputs. So you could just hook up your dvdplayer or gaming console to the composite jack, and the computer to dvi or vga

i looked and it seems that even the higher-end models only have hi-def composite, not the red yellow white combination seen on consoles?

are there any dvi-to-composite(ryw) or vga-to-composite?

That would be correct, as 800X600 (composite resolution in most cases) would look like absolute poo on a good monitor, especially an LCD.

well you can still connect using the composite on a higher end lcd, but you wont see a red or white because those are for sound and would have to be hooked up to external speakers. All youll see is the yellow plug but as burgerbob said, it wont look the greatest
