well, i just recieved my new pc.
AMD 4400+
1Gb dual channel pc3200
Albatron k8SLI
xfx 6800GT
550W psu

well, first i builded it together, and started it using my old ide clables, directly after the ram test, it gave an error about those cables. (it also said something about using bios defaults. ) now, becaue ive seen that error, i changed the ide cables with the ones that came with te mobo. and then it didnt work anymore :(
anyway, when i start the pc, all fan's start running. the only thing that doesnt work is the monior.. that stays on standby.
however, when i remove the monitor cable, it does display the message
"please check monitor cable" i also did test the 6800gt in a other pc, and there it started windows normally.
any idea what this could be?
btw, swiching back the cables doesnt work either.

My guess would be a motherboard problem, since you say the video card works in another pc, could be a PCI-Express problem.

And when you tried your card in antoher comp, did u use a different monitor or the one that you just bought? If you used a different one, try using that one, if it doesnt work, then its a monitor problem.

I think the prblem came when you switched the cables over, i think you shorted something out and fried the mobo a bit. Thus the graphics line not working

well.. i just toched he cables, nothing on the mobo.. :/ i did even war such a anti-static bracer.
but if something is fried on the mobo,. i hink the shop will take it back. but, is there a canse te RAM or cpu has suffered damage? or is tha unlikely?

anyway.. the mobo does look normal (i know that doesnt say much) and nohing smelled burned when it happens.

tough.. did anyone of you has any xp with pci-e problems?
