Monitor stuck on defult 640x480 16bt

My monitor is stuck on defult at 640x480 and 16bt.
I just installed a 400GB hard drive.
When I open the device manager there isn't a monitor tab.
I tried going to properties-->settings-->advanced-->monitor, but when i try to click properties(under monitor) it's faded. The title under monitor is (defult)moniter.

Anyone know why nothing is showing up?
 
right click on the desktop, select propperties from the pull-down menu,.. and then go to the settings tab ;)

( you have the drivers of the card installed i assume? )
