Monitors?

I'm building a computer for a friend, he would like a 20-24" widescreen for gaming. budget is about $250. there are so many monitors out lol, can i get suggestions?
 
Things to keep in mind:

refresh rate (75hz or higher)
response time (12ms or lower)
contrast ratio (800:1 seems to be good)

so look past all the advertising and look for those 3 things
 
well there are a million monitors on newegg that have 1000:1 ratio, 5ms response time, and 75hz refresh rate. Doesnt really narrow it down lol ;)
 
A friend of mine got one of those wide screen Acers. So far it's still running and the picture is great.

I'm going to get me one of them too.

Acers are good monitors. However, speakers on them really suck. They don't get very loud.
