Monitors?

Hi

Well I have this great laptop, really powerful, no problems etc. However I have now decided to purchase 2 montiors to help me work better, I was wondering if any knows of a dual graphic card for laptops etc.

Also I dont want to use my laptop screen as a second, as I want to identical montiors.

Ps. My latop is very similar to this, (just different graphic card)

depending on the graphics card in your computer you should be able to plug in at least one monitor. Then you should be able to go into the software for it and there should be settings such as multiple monitors and splitting windows over two different monitors. But of course this depends on the model of your GPU and the drivers and software you have for it.

If you could tell me what Graphics card you are using I could be of more help.
 
That module is a good option, but your graphics card may already do this. If you have a program on your computer that controls your graphics card, have a look inside that with a GPU like that there should be features that do this.

If not the module looks like a good option.

Anyway one of the reviews states:

Mode 2560 X 1020 (2 x 1280 x 1024) only works at 60hz as is stated by matrox. However when tested with 2 x HP TFTs I found horizontal bars rippling up the screen. This was not a fault of the DualHead2Go unit but rather the TFTs and a poor signal from an nVidia 7300 GO based machine. Better cabling, helped slightly but not enough. These TFTs work fine at 75Hz but that is not supported.

I would recomend driving each of your existing displays at 60Hz from the machine you plan to use this device with before purchasing it. If the image quality is poor, then this device will only make it slightly worse.

I also tried two Samsung syncmaster 193T's with which work ok at 60Hz However once in 2 x 1280 x 1024, the image was shited right about 1cm into each panel. Moving the horizontal position as far as possible to the left on both the monitor and the display adaptor could not solve this problem. Again this issue was specific to the monitors I using but could happen to other users.

I am not familiar with refresh rates of anything, based on the information/review specified above, could someone reccommend me 2, 17 inch monitors, as I dont want the problem above to occur.

Im sorry but I do not know enough about monitors to help solve this problem. What I would recommend is that you call into a reliable computer shop and ask them about the problem. They may be able to recommend a specific monitor that does not cause any problems with the hardware. But be wary of any advice that you recieve from an online shop.
It is also better to buy it from an actual shop because you have more chance of getting your money back if it doesnt work or if it is not compatible with the hardware.
