More fan noise running XP??

I have a HP laptop with 1.5gb ram, and i have been using vista for 6 months now, but i finally couldnt stand it anymore since its too slow, so therefore i went back to XP,performs incredibly much faster now

....but what i have really noticed is that the cpu fans are constantly at a high RPM under xp, while on vista the machine was much quiter and cooler. of course i only do the same type of work but still this indifference?, any solutions?

i know that they have improved power management with vista, but its quite a difference, and ironic that a heavy OS like vista calms the cpu more (maybe thats why vista is so crappy, underpowered??who knows)

Open the task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) and click the performance tab. Tell us what percentage your CPU is using.

at idle its 0 and stable, in vista it used to be like 1%...
The fan noise is constant, like today ive only used the computer for internett surfing, and its really warm..

does this fix help?: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256
dont know if i already got it through winupdate though :/

When is the last time you cleaned out your laptop with canned compressed air? You might have some dust build up. Dust build up inside a computer case can cause more heat build up.

no thats not the problem, ..ive now gone back to vista forced:rolleyes:, and the laptop is quiet and cool again. its obviously a much better powermanagement programmed into vista...ideal for laptops.
