More hard drive space

I currently just have 1 320gb sata hdd but with the amount of space that these new games take up i wanna get more space plus i plan on getting a tv tuner so i need more space for that. My first question is that i have a 320gb and know it only comes up as 298gb but what do 500gb and 750gb hard drives come up as? Also would it be better to get say a 750gb hdd or 2 or 3 320gb hdd's? Is 1 big hdd better or is a bunch of smaller hard drives better? Speed wise? What would you guys do? Thanks

o yeah plus what brand is better seagate or western digital?

500G HDDS come up as 476G
o an i prefer WD cos there smaller an i think there more reliable

To know how much space a drive will have when formatted you can use calculator:

Take the size of the hard drive in bytes (500 000 000 000 for a 500GB drive) then divide by 1024 3 times.

You could also just multiply by 93% to see how much the hard drive will show up as...that's always worked for me.
