More memory, low temperature?

I'm currently running an AMD 3000+ with 512 of value ram. Whenever I open a memory intensive program I see I pretty noticable spike in core temp. Would adding more ram, ie 1Gb, bring system total to 1.5Gb lower the temp when using programs that require alot of memory?

TIA

When you say core temp, do you mean CPU temp? Increasing ram wouldnt effect this, its just because the program is processing alot, which is normal. Same reason why temps spike when you open a game.

Yes by core temp. I mean cpu temp. At idle it runs at 44c and at times reaches 68c even hitting 70c the odd time.

Would you suggest I look at reseating it? I'm cooling it with a Zalman

hes already using a zalman

that sohuld be better than stock

im going to go out on a limb and say you applied too much/little goo and you need to reseat the beast

or... try this

take the side of your case off and run whatever program you are running to get to 70c

see if it will still get to 70c

if it only gets to 50c
then id have to take a guess you have too many/too few fans in your case

This may sound stupid, but sometimes it happens and people dont realize it, but make sure that your heatsink is fully on the cpu and isnt on the plastic part, this will make the temps soar. I remember when my celeron 2.4 idled around 60C, then i just played with it for a few sec and it went down to 50C idle.
