more RAM or better processor?

It depends on what processor you currently have as well as what how much ram you have. Post up what you have and we can go from there. But without knowing, go for more ram, i went from 512MB using XP Media center to 1GB and it was an amazing difference.

If you have a good cpu and not enough ram then its time for some more ram. RAM only makes your computer faster if you need more to run the certain application. So if you have enough ram for your application then its your CPU

You really need to provide more information...
What is your current processor specs? Your motherboard? And your current RAM?

Ideally, if you want speed, upgrade all three of those components.
Nowadays, you should have [at least] a 2.4ghz processor, 1GB RAM, and a motherboard that supports that. :p

Ideally you really want a dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM...
That's just an ideal solution for you though; a minimum in my books, but yeah.

Are you referring to 2.4ghz P4 or 2.4ghz Quad Q6600?

If you have a dual core and 1GB of Ram, you will not see much improvement. but if you have like 512mb ram and none dual core than you probability can fells the difference the upgrade will make given your mobo supports dualcore.

But for me I will Upgrade the RAM before the CPU. meanly because I have a laptop thats 1.5ghz Pentium M, it had 256MB RAM and it was slow as hell. but when I added another 1GB, it was fast as hell for me.
