More than one avi on a DVD in VOB format??

Guys, I am tryin to make a DVD of some of my home movies that are in avi format. I can convert the avi movie to a .VOB format no problem but the issue is when I go to do the second, third, fourth, movie etc. it creates the set of files with the same file name which causes problems when trying to put them all on one DVD.

Not sure if i explained this correctly or not but has anyone tryed doing this? I am sure there is a way to get more than one avi movie onto a sinlge DVD. Please help, thanks.

just use an authoring/burning program like nero to batch compile the entire disc to an image, or directly do a disk

if the avi is already an mpeg-2 carrier, then it wont take but a few minutes

i don't think the demo version allows mpeg-2 compression, tho.... so you'd need to get a registered copy, or find a freeware program.

imo, nero is worth it's price over and over again.

I have Nero Express, but I still have the problem of same file names when converting the avi movie to VOB. Maybe I never explained it clearly. When I convert the avi file using Divx to DVD it creates the following files,

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB

This set of files are created each time I convert an avi movie with these exact same filenames, thus choosing more than one set creates a problem when adding them to the burn list in Nero. I have tried changing filenames to make one movie different than the other but that results in errors, I guess the filenames assigned in the conversion process are unique and cannot be changed.

Does anyone have a solution? I am sure there are people out there that have put more than one avi movie such as home videos onto a DVD to be played in your DVD player, please any solutions are welcome, even if it is something you may think will work but you have not actually done it. Thanks in advance.

I don't see anything wrong there, all DVDs are formatted like that, if one video was VTS_01_1.VOB then the prog might make the next one VTS_01_2.VOB this tells the DVD player that it is to be played in sequence. If it names the second one VTS_02_1.VOB then that isn't part of the sequence and that would require a DVD menu to pick each one (like special features on commercial DVDs).

a prog called SUPER can convert to VOB

Like i said before, Divx to DVD software creates the same exact set of files every time i convert an avi file (movie) to VOB. In other words if i convert 3 avi movies to VOB using divx to dvd i get 3 sets of files like the ones liisted above. Adding these files to a burn list in Nero or other burning software cannot be done since all three sets of files have the exact same name. I have even tried changing the file name of the VOB file in the second set to VTS_01_2.VOB and to VTS_01_3.VOB in the third set, this also will not work. Somebody out there must have had this problem before, anyone?

I've never used DIVX to DVD, but what it looks like it that it is creating individual DVD's for each of the AVI files. What you want to do is add all of the AVI at once and create (author) the DVD. Here is a link that will tell you about various one. I use TMPGEnc DVD Author and/or Ulead DVD Workshop. The latter is a little more advanced.

Yes, that is exactly what it is doing, thanks, I will check out that software.
