More than one router for your home?

I have a modem-router combo form Cox and I get wireless about 3/4 of the time and the hard wired only goes down about every other day. Anyway when I move into a house I want to put in a modem-router in one room, I think I need a new one, and routers in all the other rooms because I don't won't wirer less because it's too slow. I want all my computers hard wired. I have 4 COAX connections in the house and want to put routers in the other 3 rooms so I can be hard wired with RJ45s. I talk with COX and they said sure but I figure I better post this one.

Unfortunately it sounds like what you want isn't doable, which from my understanding is to buy several router/modem combos and plug them into the coax connections in your house. You can only have one modem per internet service, if you had multiple modems you'd need multiple plans from your ISP, basically paying double or triple the cost each time, and that's assuming you have a strong enough signal for multiple modems.

Anyways, if you want devices in your house to be wired, there are a few options. The easiest is to simple have your modem/router centrally located, and then run ethernet either directly to each device, or run one cable to a switch which then serves multiple devices if they are located near each other. If you don't want to run ethernet cables over your house, another option would be powerline adapters.

You won't be able to use the rj6 (coax) connections in each room. You will need to run a cable from router 1 to each of the other routers in your house. And I don't suggest using a modem/router combo unit as they suck. Buy a separate modem and separate router.

I know I can only have 1 modem which is fine. Your telling me I can't plug in routers to the other COAX in the other rooms? In other words you can only have 1 router in your house without paying for 2 services?

You're better off getting a stand-alone cable modem and picking up a nice high end router like an ASUS RT-AC68U.

Coax is used for cable TV/internet, you cant utilize the coax in your house for network connectivity. You have to run ethernet cable between your devices/rooms.

Routers don't connect to coax, that would be the modem. You can have multiple routers, but what you would want is a switch. It would go as follows:

Modem/Router > Ethernet Cable > Switch > Devices

A few devices have coax uplinks but you won't get the same bandwidth as from UTP, and they're really expensive.

What wireless have you been using that is 'too slow' ?
Do those work with cable TV and internet on the same line? I also don't see how that would help, as he would be utilizing the coax in that room for his modem, unless he can use a coax splitter, which may not be feasible if he has a weak SnR already.
