hello, i got a new computer for christmas and i was thinking of throwing the most demanding game at it to see how well it does. i figure its f.e.a.r. but any other suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

amd 64 x2 4200+
256mb 7800gtx
1gb memory
250gb hd sata 3.0 gb/s
dfi lanparty nf4 ultra-d
onboard sound (changing to x-fi soon)

The only thing that will slow it down is the fact that you only have 1GB of ram, you should really look into getting 2GB.

I've got 1Gb of RAM and I've played F.E.A.R, Freedom Fighters, Need for Speed Underground 2 and San Andreas on PC for about 6 Hour non-stop and it hasn't slowed down at all!

Play FEAR on 1600X1200 AAX4 AFX16 if you really want to test it on a game.

Bah .. UT2004 @ 1280x1024 settings to max + 8xAA, 16xAF .. seems easy ... now do a FRAPS video capture.

or better yet... run video capture in Age of Empires 3 when its all maxed out :P

FEAR should be the most demanding I would think. It has been the most demanding game I've played so far.

yes.. fear maxed out is the most demanding game.. only 2 SLI'd 7800GTX's can pull it Fully maxed out ( not shure about 1 7800 512 Mb tough.. )

id think q4 with 16xaa, vertical sync, and ultra quality would probably match fear... it'd definately look prettier

Not nearly as hard: the bottleneck is just the HDD there (technically both VC and HDD but RTSs dont need high fps to play). A low fps-fps is just horrible hence its much more streneous ... if you want to jack it ... try a high res FEAR capture or (cough)FarCry2(cough)

in everquest 2 if you turn everything on and max everything gl playing it. its a pritty old game now but graphics where way ahead of its time.

Everquest 2 is a very demanding game. Since it has all kinds of physics simulation and damn pretty graphics.

The video capture is also very CPU intensive, i couldnt record games at all with my sempron, but with my A64 i can record games and play around 20fps.

From what I understand of Farcry 2 is that Ubisoft will be or are working on it, Not Crytek... Should be interesting although I sort of wish Crytek where the ones working on it.
