Most media players struggling to playback 120 fps ?

I recently got a Gopro 4 black & today did my first 1920x1080 recording @ 120 fps.

The video seemed to turn out fine, but most media players seem to be having trouble playing the file, tried various one including KM, VLC, DVDfab.

The only two programs that don`t seem to have a problem is DIVX & Windows 8 own built in videos player.

Anyone know if this is a common thing & should I avoid 120 fps recording ?

What sort of trouble? Did the file fail to play, or did it buffer frequently?

When you record videos with a GoPro, you shouldn't be trying to play the RAW files, you want to convert them with GoPro Studio first.

Hey Geoff, when i open the file, it opens and within a second it freezes then after maybe 5 seconds plays, it does this in most media players except divx & windows videos.

I normally play the raw files without any problem using either dvdfab, vlc even 4K videos, so this problems seems to specific to 120 fps videos.

I have since processed the videos in power director and then they play fine, but that has a max output of 60 fps, so i am not sure if it is the change in format or the lowering of fps that has made them playable.

I am wondering if it could be 120 fps is to fast for most media players to play or if it could be a codec issue, although i do i have the mega codec pack installed.

Try using GoPro Studio, it's free. I had issues with videos playing when playing the RAW videos as well.
