I have been haveing multiple problems with my pc and i am beginning to think it is my motherboard. I have researched the problems i am having and anything even remotely close has not seemed to be the problem.
I guess i will start with how i ended up in this situation in the first place. A few months ago a friend of mine plugged in my computer and the power was still on blowing out my power supply.
I sent in the power supply and got a new replacment from bfg. When it returned i had issues with my windows starting. At the time i had dual partitions with xp and ubuntu so we just uninstaled them both due to the issue but when we tried to reinstall windows it wouldnt work. After hours of god knows what my friend, noth the one who blew it up in the first place mind you, managed to partition it in some new way and got xp to finally install. After we got it running these problems seemed to occur.
I can not restart my computer through windows i must do it manually, although it did manage to work when i was in safe mode. I have tryed a few other things none of which seemed to work, accept it will randomly let me restart.
i guess my next issue is Firefox, i was so stoked to get my pc back after not having it for a month when i installed ff i got a bunch of new addons. For some reason i was having some issue with aol instant messenger so i decided to reinstall it. When i did i restarted my computer and it worked fine but it turned my firefox browser into a cluster f.... My theme wont work though installed, it opens like 5 different tabs everytime i open firefox that all half to do the add ons i installed, and i can not save my already opened tabs. My hompage is set to only open one tab. I have tryed uninstalling the addons and all it did was make less tabs open up but i still like using the addons so i reinstalled them and delt with it. I also tryed to just reinstall all of firefox all problems still occured. I refuse to use ie due to issues i had when i first built my computer but after it was fixed i had no reoccuring problems till now.
My last major problem i can think of is like a month or two post power supply issue was...
I installed the game lord of the rings online, i would play for a while and between 5 to 10 minutes the game would completley freeze my computer, or occasionally cause the screen to go completely black and not respond. Everytime i would just restart my computer and eventually i gave up and uninstalled the game, Before i did i started running tests i will go into later. I also had a problem with an old game knights of the old republic 2, when i would play it i cauld play for about the same amount of time as lotro when instead of crashing or freezing my computer the game would just freeze except my charector could spin in circles but that was it. This time i was able to just ctr-alt-del out of the game and close it rather than restart my computer. The next game ihad an issue with was sacred 2 will not seem to install on my coputer even though it should more then meet the specs for it. And world of warcraft will freeze my computer when i try to exit the game but thats the only time. I have played multiple other games with no porblems though like cod 4, price of persia:warrior within, left 4 dead, and many more.
I have ran multiple memory, graphics card, and cpu test, none of which seem to come up with any problems. This has led me to one conclusion that something screwed with my motherboard when my power supply was blown out. Not one person has been able to give me an awnser for the issues occuring with my computer and i am going insane. I have a liftime warrenty with my motherboard but i would like to see if ANYONE AT AlLL has any suggestions to fixing this computer before i half to spend nother month and a half without it to send it in for repair or replacement. Maybe im coming to the wrong conclusion idk im no computer genius i just know the issues i am having. PLEASE HEALP.
