Motherboard Advice?

With Nehalem just around the corner and most likely prices will drop on the current Socket 775 boards would I be better off choosing at this time to step up to a new board ( P45 or X48 ) and say DDR3 memory or should I just get a new board and some faster DDR2 memory. At the moment I have my Q9450 oc'd to 3.4 and I'm unable to go any further. Some say it's my memory holding me back and some say it's my board. I know that Nehalem's prices will more than likely be outrageous for awhile. So with that being said what do you guys think?

i'd go for an awesome x48 board with very high performance ddr2 memory. More cost efficient and will still be pretty much up to par with the high performance ddr3.

So you think that a X48 board would even be better than the P45 that is taking the place of the P35? Which X48 would you go with? I've used Asus for several years now and they make decent boards it's just that their customer service has almost become a laughing joke.

those are very nice boards indeed. Although i'd go for the gigabyte for a couple of reasons:
- reviews are very very impressive about this board and gigabyte in general right now
- doesn't have an open hole for a heatsink at the back ports
- looks better :P
anyway it all depends on how big your wallet is.

The link on the P5E and Gigabyte board is broken but I'll look them up. Thanks for the info . Money is no problem I'm just looking for a well established board with goos reviews and reliability. I just ordered some PC8500 memory now I'll have to choose a board.

sry about the broken links. I don't know why they won't work.. Odd. O well, I hope you get what you wanted.!!! Have fun.:)

I currently have the E8400 and 680i SLI with 2 8800GTX's. If what they say about X58 supporting SLI I will definitely be moving to it.
