im looking for a motherboard and cpu thats a pt. 4/ 3.0ghz. i have found a couple that are around $200 can someone help me find one a little cheaper thanks :D

First off, if you go with LG775, which im guessing ur doing, its much cheaper than a 478 board.

Second, make sure your board has Crossfire (ATI dual video cards) or SLI (nVidia dual video) so you can upgrade your video cards easily in the future.

Third, for now, make sure you go with a board that suppports DDR2-800 and has 4 slots, for easy expansion from 4 to upwards of 16 gigs of ram, just so you are ready for vista.

For motherboards, i would suggest Asus, MSI, or Gigabyte.

I would suggest this motherboard.

i realize you wanted a board cheaper than 200, but take into account the fact that a cheap board will be horrible in the long run, and you always have to consider what will last longest and save you the most money in the future.

I am currently looking at both Asus and MSI for the next build only with an AMD Opteron 185 dual cored 2.6ghz cpu to blow right by an Intel 3ghz. If you are looking for cpu performance AMD.

well i dunno, if he was worried about vista, he would have to get a compete upgrade anbyway by the sounds of it. plus i think that vista is a while off before it is working properly, and why do u need vista so soon. with those sorts of specs, vista may not be the perfect OS anyway. plus new technology is coming out soon like am2 and all that, sooo he/she can upgrade when the time comes. i think just go with what u need, instead of getting a motherboard that will do sli. you do not need sli with a p4 3.0.

so just go for the inexpensive option because chances are you will upgrade everything later on
