motherboard and cpu

I was wondering if it was possible to install a single duo core into a quad core motherboard. For example like the Asus P5N-E SLI QUAD CORE , or Asus Commando Quad Core . in the description it says it supports pentium d, 4, core2, etc. so im wondering if its possible to put 2 processors into it or if it was able to run just one core like an single intel core2 duo.
 
Those motherboards only have a single socket, but they support quad-core CPU's. So you can install a Core 2 Duo, but you cant install two processors.
 
oh sorry forgot to read the information clearly from the other site. I thought it was just like they putting two processors into one motherboard. I get it now its just one processor on one motherboard.

Yeah, usually this means a Xeon mobo instead...
