Motherboard and graphics card compatibility issue

I have Intel® Desktop Board D865PERL. I used to have a GeForce 5200 FX, then I changed it to GeForce 7300 GT. After some time, my computer started freezing. In the service they said this graphics card is too strong for my motherboard.

So the question is: what is the best graphics card fully compatible with Intel® Desktop Board D865PERL? Is at least 6600 GT fully compatible?

Any graphics card is compatible with any MoBo, as long as it is in the correct slot, ie pci express, AGP, whatever you have. A card too strong for a MoBo is ridiculous.

It sounds like a driver issue. Did you uninstall the drivers for your 5200 and then install the drivers for your 7300? Or did you just replace the cards and let it go?

If yes, then it might be the power supply. Is it the factory power supply? Those are usually cheap and break easily. You might want to consider replacing it.

I just replaced the cards and let it go. I can uninstall the 5200 drivers, but how can I install the 7300 drivers if computer freezes after few seconds?

My power supply is pretty new - I bought it after I bought the graphics card. It was pretty expensive back then (it was like 2008). I guess it's 500W, but I can't remember well.

boot into safe mode and see if that helps with it stopping responding.
If it does, then uninstall the 5200 drivers, and reboot. It will load teh standard VGA driver for windows, and you will be able to install the 7300 drivers.

Put the 5200 back in and uninstall the drivers. Shut down. Install the 7300 and boot up. See if it still freezes. If not, install the 7300 drivers.

Thank you, but 7300 GT used to freeze even with it's own drivers. So what to do if after uninstalling the drivers and replacing cards it still freezes? What can be a problem then?
