motherboard arrived.....BUT!!!!!

I was going to have my other thread reopened, but ran into some other off topic issues. So I'm just going to start this new thread. OK, so the motherboard arrived that I got off ebay. Installed into my system and got 'er up and running. While some of ya'll ladies were bickering about the OEM vs retail mumbo jumbo :P; nobody said a word about the RAID 0 array that I had going on. Yup, it won't read the drives, so I'm gonna have to reinstall my OS.

Anyways, I have seen Windows 8 and don't like that look, and I don't like that I would have to buy something else to get my "start" button back like in Windows 7. Will there ever be programs out there that are Windows 8 only? On some older hardware, will Windows 7 64 bit drivers carry over for Windows 8, or is there specific drivers for Windows 8. Maybe I should just install Windows 7 64 bit and not worry about anything...lol

OK, another quick question, Is there that much difference in the use of resources between Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8? I'm mainly a gamer on the PC and I'm picky about my FPS in games. I haven't searched around yet but has anyone here personally experienced a jump in FPS going from Windows 7 to Windows 8?

If you have Windows 7 x64, I would keep it. A lot of people don't like Windows 8, but since I am not one of them and I have 8 on my system. So, I have not run across anything that 7 won't do that 8 can do.
I was coming from Windows XP Pro x64 and decided to get 8 after beta testing it. And with the start button, "Classic Shell" is a free program to use for the start button.

99% of the software and hardware which was compatible with 7 will be compatible with 8. Usually Vista, 7 and 8 use the same drivers.

Just install and use the OS you're most comfortable with.
