What is the best Brandname for a motherboard. This computer is going to have the potential for gaming.(if you needed to know that)

Right now I am looking at parts for my brother-in-law and want to know your views on the best name brand motherboard.

Although one cant really say there is a "best" per-se, MSI and DFI make awesome K8 boards, for K7 boards, ASUS and ABit are makes of choice

ASUS hasnt done such a stellar job with their K8s as they have with their P4 and K7 boards :(
 
ASUS make stunning board which handle great under gaming, DFI is also awesome.

If your really on a budget but still want gaming then i suggest Abit, not the greatest ever but it does the job with no frills attatched.

Gotta be a bit careful with the broad statements. ASUS (and similarly ABit), make awesome Pentium and K7 boards. But they certainly dont live up to their older reputations with their K8 boards

Last time I checked, ABit wasnt a budget oriented company
