well.. I was going to get a P7N Platinum. because I wanted to get a 780i chipset botherboard (mainly to overclock my Q6600)
however, a friend of mine told me the P7N Platinum 'only' uses the 750i chipset. and the P7N Diamond uses the 780i one. wich made me wonder, is the 750i chipset worse performance wise when it comes to overclocking?
(I mean, I know the Platinum 'only' has 3 pci-e 16x slots and 4 sata ports, and its onboard sound isnt a X-fi one as on the Diamond. however, those things dont matter, since I wouldnt be using that anyway. (I heard tough that the 750i only has 8x speed to the grafic's card when in SLI mode, can anyone confirm this? also, would that make a difference when using say, 2 8800GTS's or so?
anyways, my question here would be, is the P7N 750i jsut as good as the 680i or 780i chipset for motherboards (any pre-, reviews on it would be great)
or wich other motherboard would you suggest? (preferably the same pricerange as the P7N platinum, so I really dont want to spend more than say the price of a eVGA 680i or so)
requirements for the motherboard would be.
Socket 775, support for the Q6600 and abbiillity to overclock it
SLI (2 cards is enough, 3way SLI really doesnt bother me ^^ )
onboard Lan (1 port is enough already)
4x SATA ports (since thats all I use at max, using 2 at the moment)
support for 4x 1Gb DDR2 800 RAM
Onboard sound doesnt bother me, still have my Audigy 4 laying around here
so my gues would be, feel free to suggest a motherboard. (any reliable info on the P7N Platinum would be great tough, since it does seem like a nice motherboard
