Hi,

I bought an ASUS P5GD1-VM mobo for my new PC. When I put everything togather and pressed the power button the monitor didn't switch on. I know that a quite common problem but I just can't fugure out whats causing it.
The graphics card is brand new and working. The ram is listed in the lsit of the recommended rams for this motherboard. the PSU is high quality and is fully compatible with this type of motherboards.

When the power button is pressed a sugnal is sent to the monitor because the green light comes on but 2-3 seconds after this it goes on stand by again.

I will be gratefull for any help given.

Thank you in advance.

By doing a quick search, i have found that your board has an integrated video system. Try plugging your VGA/monitor cable into the onboard plug first, if it boots up then go into BIOS and change the setting to display from PCI and not onboard.

Hi,

I frogot to mension it but I have tried to plug the monitor cable in to the board but with the same result. The computer beeps once. I think thats the memory check. But nothing else.

Hi,

The specs are:

P4 LGA775 2.8GHz
ASUS P5GD1-VM
Winfast 6600GT
2 x 256 Crucial DDR400
Seagate 80GB
Cooler Master Real Power 450W ATX2.0

Yes it could be a faulty CPU but your MOBO would usually beep eratically if it was CPU related, it is more likely that it is a MOBO fault where the graphics channels have been fried, i suggest sending your mobo back for replcement/testing.
