i'm looking at building a core i5 GTX260core216 SLI setup i plan to do some mid-range overclocking. which of those motherboards would be the best price/for what i get.

are the Asrock ones very unreliable and not even worth looking at?

should i really just drop the extra money on the EVGA one? or would it be pointless vs the MSI one for 50$ less.

remember i only plan to do some mild overclocking say just bring my core i5 up from 2.66GHz to 3.66GHz at the most.

I don't recommend SLi at P55 platform, the mobo not support at full speed.
I would recommend a single ati 5870.

If you want overclock & SLi, Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4P/ ASUS P7P55D PRO. Both of them support SLi & CrossFire
I am not sure if EVGA mobo support CrossFireX...

Here is tomshardware test for budget P55 mobo.

It show some brand don't overclock well. But I don't know if it is still an issue with higher end...

Also, if you get a motherboard with a foxconn cpu socket there have been issues with them overheating and...uh....melting.

X58 is a far better platform if you want SLI....and well, just a better platform in general
Microcenter has i7 920's for $199
X58 Motherboards arent too much...Flamingblade GTI is a decent motherboard and is Crossfire compatible: (Not SLI compatible however).

Memory: You could always just get a dual channel kit like you would have with P55, or spend the extra $30-40 and get a triple channel ddr3 kit.

As far as GPU, id recommend you get a 5850 vs two GTX260 in sli.(Vs a 5870, as far as gaming is concerned there isnt a whole lot of margin between the 5870 and an overclocked 5850)

well i'd have to go to the nearest microcenter to pick up that 200$ i7 920 CPU which is 4 hours away. and that'd cost me more money in gas to drive there so microcenter is out of the question.

as for the radeon hd 5850. how well does that scale if i were to do a crossfire setup? i've been hearing that ATI doesnt scale as well in crossfire as Nvidia does with SLI. and ATI doesnt have as good of drivers compared to Nvidia.

Its not even the point of crossfire...a single 5850 is better than the gtx260's in sli. Crossfire and SLI both scale relatively identical for all intents and purposes.
