My motherboard is fried and I need to buy a new one. My motherboard was Motherboard Specifications, M2N68-LA (Narra3) HP Pavilion a6430f Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

My processor is "AMD Athlon 7750 2.7GHz Dual Core Processor" and my graphics card is Newegg.com - EVGA 896-P3-1257-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

I don't know if my power supply also matters in finding a compatible motherboard, but it's Newegg.com - OCZ GameXStream OCZ600GXSSLI 600W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

I'm thinking of buying this processor and motherboard, but I'm not sure if they would be worth it, or if there are much better options. My budget is around $130.

It will be used for heavy-duty gaming, so I need a motherboard that can take it and won't overheat, because that's how my motherboard died.

Thank you

the thing is that the operating system is lisenced to the motherboard, so once you change mobos it doesn't work any more, and the only way to get it to work would be to buy a new windows 7 install disk which is 100 bucks.

This is the mobo I am using

If you can afford, I have played, WOW, Driver San Francisco, GTA San Andreaus, Far Cry 2, Prototype, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Mine Craft, Gothic 3, Farming Simulator, Flatout, Battle Field 2, COD4... All on max settings... It has been a GREAT motherboard/Processor for full on gaming IMO.... It has yet to fail on me..... That was all on 4GB of ram, Most of the time 2GB of ram cause my other stick has latency problems.... :/

Also I am using an OCZ 500W which has also worked for me.... Check my system specs in my siggy :)

Edit: I USED to have the AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE... I haz upgraded for work sakes lol :D

Lol, the replies so far have been fairly crappy.

First off, I'll just throw it out there that you could get considerably better components if you save some more money. $130 isn't much for both a mobo and a cpu, and obviously more money will buy better.

If you are set on getting up and running quickly on $130, yes, anything AM3 would work fine with most any AM3 socket processor. If you can swing it, a triple-core would be a better choice than a dual-core, and there are some X3's in the $75 range. For AM3 mobos, the A880GB+ Biostar mobo for $60 would be a good value, and I would trust that further than that Asrock motherboard you linked. But it all comes down to the price, and for $130 you shouldn't expect any miracles regardless.

I wouldn't worry about getting an AM3+ motherboard. Considering the current state of bulldozer, your budget, and the fact that Phenom 2 processors (assuming you could find one in X amount of months if you want to upgrade) are plenty fast enough for modern games, AM3 would be a good choice, partially due to the fact that you can find better, cheaper mobos in that socket. Also, the next time you upgrade or build a new system, you may simply want to go Intel anyway.

As far as your OEM OS goes, call them up and try re-certifying it. There are also other options, but I don't think I am at liberty to mention those.

This thread is almost 2 months old, so its probably pointless posting in it. The dude only has 130 bucks. If he has a 7750 now, he is running DDR2 memory. So no AM3 or AM3+ board will work. His best bet would be save as much money as he can, get a cheap AM2+ board to get it up and running. Then save up some more and do a Processor/motherboard and memory upgrade later.
