hi guys im asking a question about fsb speeds,
my question is say my mobo fsb is 1000mhz and i got one stick of 800mhz i know it will work but what if i want to have it dual channel so i have 2x800mhz wil t work because its over 1000mhz limit

alao what about if my mobo is 1000mhz and i have 4 sticks of 800mhz not in dual channel in single channel so every stick takes up the 4 dimm slots will it still work

You don't double the memory speed when your running in dual channel mode, so you will still have 2x sticks @ DDR2-800. DDR2-800 is only running at 400Mhz by the way.
 
No, the 1000mhz is just the communication speed between the Northbridge, the CPU, and the RAM.
 
No No No there really both running at (200MHZ!!!) FSB and RAM
DDR2 800
ddr2 800 = 200mhz internal speed = 400mhz external speed = 800mhz DDR = pc2-6400
 
You will only go over the FSB speed if you overclock so you will have no issues. The actual FSB speed is 200 to 266MHz depending on the cpu, and then their is a multiplier your mother board that supplies the 1000MHz actual bus speed, when you add more RAM is doesn't affect your FSB at all.
 
so the fsb speed isnt to do with the memory speed, the fsb speed is a communication between the mobo cpu ram and pci slots?
 
yes but what i dont get is taht say your mobo fsb speed is 1000mhz and you got memory pc6400 (800mhz) say if you have more than one its over the 1000mhz because 2x800 is 1600

No you just have 2 800s you dont add them together! say you have 2 DDR2 800 of 1gb, that just means you have 2gbs of DDR2 800, both sticks run at the same speed!

The only difference I believe is if you just have one, it's only 128 Bit, but it's 256 Bit in dual channel (or is it 64 and 128... lol).
