Motherboard FSB?

Well I was looking at some mobos and I notice they have different "FSB"

What is FSB?

For instance, one has 2600MHz FSB and another one has 1000 MHz FSB. Is 1000 MHz Really slow?

The FSB is basically how fast information travels between the processor and the chipset. They can be a bit confusing as many do many operations per clock... Say a 200MHz that performs 4 operations per cycle would basically be 800MHz.

While a faster front side bus will increase performance, it is not the major deciding factor. A processor may have a faster FSB but still be outperformed by another with a slower FSB.

I'm looking to buy a new motherboard. Now if it's top listed FSB is 1033Mhz, and I want to use an intel core 2 Quad with an FSB of 1333Mhz, will it work with such a motherboard?

I believe you mean 1066MHz FSB. If you want to use the C2Q with a 1333MHz FSB, you need to buy a motherboard that supports it.

Righto, I think I'll just get a core 2 dual instead, it'll be more than enough for gaming
