Motherboard Help!

hi off ebay yesterday i brought a MSI 645 Ultra Motherboard and today i brought a INTEL CELERON 1.7GHZ SOCKET 478 Processor. my question is will it work together because the motherboard website says pentium 4 but arns P4 and celeron different things because i thought celeron was the cheap version of P4?
i was just wondering if it would work as iv searched google and all i can find is a load of pages saying 404 not found from the msi website.

Since they are the same socket they should be compatible. Shouldn't you have verified this before you purchased them?:)
 
lol yea i should of verified it but i needed a motherboard quick seen a processor and bidded on it after i seen the words pentium and socket 478 but didnt think to check then after my bid went on i though lets read it again then i realised. i only bidded £2 and its still at 1p so i will get outbid its just im checkin so if i do would it be worth increasing it.

I agree with the chef u should be careful I cant believe so many people buy expensive computer parts w/out researching and finding out if its compatable. Anyway heres a list of compatable cpu's off msi's website.

it is compatable with your motherboard but it looks like your definately going to need a bios update unless ur mobo was updated recently enough by someone else (wouldnt plan on it) get the update from msi's website but if you dont know how to do a bios update u should have someone who does do it for u good luck

i did check but nothing was loading from there site and its not that expensize and i needed the motherboard anyway so not that bad!
