Motherboard not working

Hi, I took a computer of mine apart since it no longer works and I have no idea where the hard drive is.
I replaced an older computer's motherboard with the motherboard from this system I took apart, and connected it to ample powe (250W). It's an intel 82845G motherboard, with a celeron 2.2ghz processor.
Basically, it just shows information about the motherboard when I start it up, with RAM and a hard drive connected. What is wrong with it and is there a way to make it work?

Disconnect the hard drive and see if gets past post and see if it comes up with invalid boot media error. If it does then the hdd is bad.

It could also be a bad cable. I had a bad SATA cable, and sometimes it wouldn't allow the system to boot at all.
