ok- so- as a first time pc builder i may have done something wrong- but here's my problem:

installed a msi p965neo mobo- intel e6400 cpu- ram- hd- cdrom- nvidia 7300gs and my monitor- which works fine- is receiving no signathe power supply is working fine- as the hd/cdrom/cpu fan are all powered. the video card does not have any additional power cables and is only connected to the motherboard- and the fan on that is getting power. however- the keyboard and usb mouse are not receiving power from the motherboard.

did i fry the motherboard? the video card came out of the box about an hour ago- so i wouldnt suspect it to be defective.

ive been unable to get through to the store from which i purchase my motherboard- so- any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

The first thing to do is check to see if the four wire 12v cpu feed is plugged in. That usualy plugs in near the cpu socket. Wthout that plugged in the system will generally fail to startup. What type of keyboard and mouse is being used there, PS2 or USB? By default a system will often see problems at times with usb or cordless keyboards due to the lack of one signal or the other.

Without seeing the numlock key or other led on the keyboard or mouse light up you probably received a bad board if all connections are plugged in correctly. But the way you mounted the board could be a problem if it is shorting to ground by the mounts underneath touching something on the board like a traceway. You should look over the board closely for things lke this. For a beginner it soesn't take much effort to miss something.
