Motherboard Purchase Help(Dimesion 3000)

If the 3000 isn't a mini/micro ATX case then that motherboard WILL fit in the computer. Only thing you will need to replace (in most cases) then you will need to change the back panel so that all the holes fit in the right spots.

but I dont know enough about computers to know if the ASUS P4P800-VM will fit into the Dell Dimension 3000. Can anyone help me out?

I am pretty certain that a dimension 3000 dont have a atx case which means most likly that motherboard is not going to fit in your case. So you would have to replace the case also to get that motherboard.

Finally I dont know if dell still does this but some people use special PSU that only work in the motherboard they use. This means it possiable that you would have to replace the case and PSU in order to use that motherboard.

So the motherboard isn't going to fit without a new psu.
Why would it need a new PSU? If anything it would fit and just have a lot of room down near the bottom and side. All the screw holes should still line up (you might need to put in some other risers though).

A new PSU will be needed, AFAIK Dell is still in the 'We like non-standard ATX mainpower connectors'

The dell 3000 uses a special psu made just for dell by pcpowerand cooling. The connectors for the motherboard are different. Though the motherboard may fit, but not with the same psu or at least not in most oems... The ppl in this forum have no clue even the moderator

which is what I said smaktard, if you want to flame someone do a better job of it. Lord Anthrax said the board would fit in the case, the powersupply wouldn't be in the way, as you implied here

I thought they switched over a few years ago, but I guessss not. And YES, a microATX board will work with a normal PSU except like Crome said (and I didn't know) the dell boards still use a wierd connection.
