Okay, I may be a complete retard for not thinking of this earlier. If I update my BIOS its currently 1.3, if I update it to 2.0, might that help overclocking any?
 
It might, check and see if they list what the improvements are for.

Edit: I was just reading a thread on another forum where a guy who has the same Asus board I do upgraded his BIOS and it improved the stability for OC'ing his FX-8120.

however there are a couple in between 1.3 and 2.0, I assume all those changes are there too.
1. Modify i-Rock PS2 keyboard issue.

1. Improve discrete VGA card vBIOS compatibility.
2. Update CPU code.
3. Improve Internet flash.

but I am not sure what most of that is or if it will help.
 
I'd wonder what they mean by: 3. Add "No-K OC" function.
If that means they disabled K OC or if they improved OC for non-K cpu's.

The vBIOS may be improved voltage control.
 
I hope so, the volt control right now is horrendous.

I think that the no-k OC is better OC for non K cpus. At least that is what I found when I googles it. Either way, I can always revert if it locks the multi, yes?
 
I am not sure it does. I have always had to reset when I did way over volt or something, but sometimes like with RAM errors (screwing with timings) it will come up with a screen that says "recovered from a error press F2 to go to UEFI setup or F1 to continue". Not sure if that is just recovery or if its dual BIOS.

I am going to flash anyway using the windows Application.
 
I will. I am currently testing it. I am running 4.5 currently. Started at 1.295 volts (previous stable) and am going down a bit at a time till I get unstable, then up bu .01. SO far 1.280 is stable. :)
 
eh, it still is running hot, the volt regulators are still extremely hot (well the heatsinks), and it is still got horrid volt regulation. Set at 1.260, it is running between 1.264 and 1.273. :(

I just want to replace it with either a BIOS or board that will run 1.260 when it is supposed to.

1, Start your own thread. especially since my thread has not a thing to do with your issue.

2. If your getting a TPM error, your screwed. That means either your TPM is gone or you have somehow damaged it. You will need a new module, or possibly motherboard. not quite sure how they are installed.

This happens to me, with my 990FXA. I've talked to Strangle, who has/had the same board and that doesn't happen to him. Also happened on my earlier 970A board. It may be the CPU. Pretty unlikely that both my boards will do that. Also tried a different power supply with no difference. Could be your CPU doing that.
 
unless I have had 2 bad CPUs, I doubt it. It did not do it on the H61DE/S3, and the Celeron in this board did jump round too. Never bothered me then though, because it was under volted, so it had a good .2 or so to jump and stay within stock volts.
 
non-K cpus probably refers to the non unlocked cpu's having additional overclocking benefits...thats what makes sense to me
