Motherboard question

So I've been watching computer build videos lately and figured it was time I tried it myself. I plan on using the same components as the video since my confidence level isn't high enough to swap any particular parts for anything that's not covered in the video. However I might have to go a different route with the motherboard.

The video uses a Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H. Nobody has them in stock and they don't know when they will get any. Maybe discontinued? Can anyone suggest a motherboard that's similar to this one. I just want to be as consistent as I can with what I'm watching.

Doesn't really matter what board you have as long as you are using the same socket motherboard and cpu. I wouldn't be building socket 1150 at this point when socket 1151 is the newest and will have support for the new processors coming out soon. The installation process is the same for all intel sockets since socket 775.

Can you provide your list of parts so we can verify compatibility?

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H (Nobody has this board in stock)
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1600 PC3-12800
SSD: Samsung 840 Series Solid State Drive (SSD) 250 GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 3 TB HDD SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 7200 RPM
ODD: Lite-On 24x DVD Burner
PSU: Corsair CX600
Card Reader: Rosewill 40-In-1
OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit (OEM) (Will probably go with the more current Win10)
I planned on using the on board video, but might install an old GTX 670 I have since I never installed a video card before.

The build video I'm following is from 2013 which is probably obvious, lol. This is my very first attempt at a build so I wanted to stick with the same components suggested in the video, however I've been very impressed with the advice from the experts on this board so I will consider any suggestions.

I'm building this for my mother. It will be used for surfing the web, the occasional non-demanding game, as well as managing ITunes and digital photos.

You can find some Z97 boards instead, which were the next version of chipset and support the same CPUs.

If you don't have the CPU already then I'd go for a i3/i5 on 1151 with a Z170 board and DDR4 though, since that's the most modern platform.

The games are Tetrus, solitaire, etc.

Thanks, guys. Good points. I suppose I can use more updated components and still follow the video. I'm pretty sure the assembly steps would be the same.

Get an I3 cpu and save the I7 for someone that really needs it.

Something like an I3 6100 and 8gb of ram will be sufficient for her. Really only need 430 watt psu, don't need an aftermarket cooler or even an SSD but would be nice to have.
 
Why dont you just get a raspberry Pi for $50 and be happy with that? It'll play the games you want as well as a ton of other games. Full kits sell for under $100 on Ebay and you can add a wireless keybo and mouse like a logitech K400 for another $30.
