The board's own overheating protection circuit would have to be bypassed. The best thing to do would be to install a better cooling method to keep temps down. An ideal temp when a cpu has a good load is far less. The manual shows a hardware monitor included in the bios. Apparently there is a sub menu that pops up when pressing the enter key when you have "cpu temperature" highlighted in the hardware monitor section in the bios. That may allow you to disable or raise the cpu temp threshold at your own risk there however. When the cpu reaches 60C the board temp is also getting hot where this may be the reason for the halt seen on processes. It is mainly there to prevent damages to hardwares from overheating.

why would you want to run your computer at higher temperatures anyway? it is a sure fire way to shorten the life of your hardware. that's why i've got 11 fans in my pc and it runs at worst 32 degrees c(i leave it on all night!
When I put the new board into the old case with only two case fans the board temps were 46-48C at idle while the cpu was at 42C. I was hot under the collar seeing those temps. So the new case was ordered and two additional 120mm fans saw the board temp drop to 31C and cpu at 32C. I break about 42-44C if I crank the cpu up a little. The newer boards seem to need more cooling then the older ones.

my processor is an amd athlon xp 2600+ which is known to have heating issues. ive got a really good jet turbine like cpu fan which cools it really good but on the really hot summer days when im playin games it gets up to 60* and freezes. i guess its because i live in Australia or something

I have an Athlon XP 2700+ and to get temps down to manageable levels with the stock heatsink I had to install a CPU duct to pull in room air instead of hot case air and install a more powerful yet quieter fan.

The temps with stock cooling will go high on the older XP series Atholons no doubt there. Besides a better then stock cooler getting that air flow moving inside the case to bring temps down on the board and other hardwares is what you will need to look at. A different case with better cooling or even an air conditioned model would obviously be a big help as well as a big price. If your case there doesn't have air vents or a front instake with a good rear exhaust fan you wiil want to start looking for a way to add large fans or go with another case.
The air conditioned cases are out of league for the average buget for sure. But some lower cost models that will take 120mm fans is something to look at. When going to build a newer build later you will already have the case decided on.
