Motherboard Suggestions

Ok my computer died a couple weeks ago and I want to build a new one.

I can't reuse everything but I have speakers, monitor, keyboard, mouse, DVD burner, DVD player, and a floppy drive. I don't have any fans and if the heatsink that comes with the processor will do I'll stick with that (I care more about cost than noise).

I've pretty sure on these specs:

But I don't know what to do for a motherboard, I know I want SLI for the future, but I don't know what chipset to get.

This computer will be used for mild to moderate gaming (none of the super new stuff), CAD and other engineering software, and schoolwork.

I want a good motherboard so I can upgrade later but I don't want to spend over 1,200 for the computer. Any other suggestions on components is welcome also.
 
Everyone keeps veering me away from SLI moterboards, I want to trust them but I just have a gut feeling that If I don't I will regret it. But then again I feel like I'm paying more for a lesser board :confused: (except two PCIe slots) for SLI.

I plan on keeping this computer for at least 5 years. Do you (by you I mean everyone) think that non SLI is the way to go and will give me a kickass computer for that ammount of time?
 
Many people think that SLI is not really worth it (cost vs. performance). They think that by the time your GPU is not strong enough, it would be better to get a new GPU than buying another one you have at that time to make it run in SLI. Hence the recommendations of mobo with just one GPU slot.
 
Ahh so many options it's overwhelming :confused: This one looks good, this ones cheaper, this one is sli, wait sli sucks, this is best of all, but so damn expensive!!!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.

I feel If I make up my mind next week it will suck, unless i get a 500 mobo but then I'll get screwed :(
