1) After some deliberation - I've decided I want to go with a quad core for my first build instead of a Triple-core 720. More than what I need - but I won't have to worry about outgrowing it anytime soon. The Penom II x4 955 BE looks like I can get a solid 3-5 years and still have the ability to upgrade with another AM3 Socket processor if things make any kindof leap forward in terms of PC technology ( like a brand New high end PC for $300 ??? instead of an entry level Dell ) . I can leave myself some room to O.C. if I want to - with the BIOS - or the B.E. software. Even though it'd be fine for my needs without an O.C.
2) Another option would be a Phenom IIx4 940 BE on an AM2+ socket. Again - looks like a similar performing platform for about $100.00 less out of pocket right now with cheaper memory - cheaper cpu - and better deals on MOBO. BUT - the AM2+ socket that looks like it will be phased out before I would be upgrading again ( 3-5 yrs ). So when I want to upgrade - I'll basically be starting over with a new MOBO and CPU to get my new PC setup???
If I go with an AM3 - Can I pop a new chip in there in 3-5 years - maybe add a graphics card - and it'll be like a whole new system -/ OR / will the MOBO be dated to where I'd basically be looking at starting over again - b/c the MOBO would be a bottleneck making MOBO and CPU as new purchases again?
Could anybody correct my logic if I'm off base anywhere? Share an opinion - insight. Planning a build is a bit more deliberate than picking a price and buying a PC off the shelf. I want to get this right.
Thanks

ATI Radeon HD 3300 built-in 128MB DDR3 1333 SidePort Memory
This is the board I'm thinking about right now - b/c it's got alot of heat sinks - and an onboard GPU with a HDMI female video adapter.
