Hey yinz guys,
Motorola Surfboard SB5161
Trendnet TEW-639GR
New Comcrap install (new house)
What I've done:
1. Attach computer (wired) to modem, get DHCP lease, initiate internet traffic
2. Attach computer to router, clone MAC address
3. Attach modem to router's WAN port, renew DHCP lease in the router, internet happens.
But... it only works for a short period of time. Sometimes it's a half an hour, sometimes it's 12-18 hours, then all internet traffic is killed (wired and wireless). Additionally, in the router config, all my numbers show as 0.0.0.0 for the DHCP lease (always, internet working or not). Renewing the DHCP lease on the router fixes the problem for another 30 minutes to 18 hours.
IF I turn off DHCP on the router, and connect the modem directly to the switch, I can go to a few websites (like Google), but not most others (like Speedtest). Same happens if I attach the modem to one of the switch ports on the router (i.e. not the WAN port).
I'm 95% sure that if I call comcrap they'll tell me it's a problem with my equipment, since the modem is working fine.
I've googled the heck out of this, and as far as I know, I'm following all the correct steps. Does anybody have similar experience with this equipment who can help me out?
