Mourning my first hdd

Hello. I beleive my hdd has kicked the bucket. It's not booting up and nothing is reading it in bios CMOS and even when I tried to reinstall windows. So I have to get a new one. Is it at all possible even if I have to take it to a computer store to get my files from it? Thanks

Sure you can...they charge roughly $700-$800 PER FILE.

This is why I am a huge fan of 2 smaller HDDs. Example is the HDD in my sig I have 2 of 1 I leave unplugged for back ups of my primary.

They are also 1 platter so less things to screw up on it :)

Id suggest no matter what size you want to get a second and do the same thing. Just leave the power unplugged on it so it is only on for back ups...or buy a external...I prefer internals though.

You can try DT's "Digital Rescue" or "Recover my Files" by...um, I think its Get Data? Either way, a program like those or "badcopy" or any the likes might work for you to get your data back. I've had very good luck with one in particular on my home PC I can't remember the name right now - might be recover pro or something...
