mouse cursor jittery

I recently installed a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit onto a Dell Latitude XT laptop that previously had Windows Vista on it. When I was loading the Drivers onto it I noticed that the mouse would vibrate or jitter when it was at rest after a restart and when a dialog box appeared to confirm permissions. Has anyone ever seen this problem before and what did you do to resolve it?

I have a dell studio that has a bad touchpad in it. Its fine until it gets hot and then the cursor is so erratic, you can't control it. You have to use a regular mouse at that point. Could be your issue as well now.
