mouse issue

So about a week ago, i lost the ability to press on the middle scroll button and go up and down webpages fast. Does that make sense? Also, i cannot click with the middle button while i'm in firefox and open a new tab. However, i can scroll up and down with it. what could be causing this?

What kind of mouse is it? Did you need any software to use this middle button(a few do...) Have you tried another mouse?

No, there was no software for the mouse...it was the sony vaio mouse that came with the computer.

Weird... I'd try another mouse first, that should be the easiest way to tell if it's your machine or the mouse. That or try the mouse on another machine.

Tweakui has some options to alter the mouse settings. Maybe you could mess around with those settings? Just search for it on google, it's easy to find.
