Mouse issues

I have a logitec wireless optical mouse. Im having issues with it freezing alot and lagging for a second or two. I have searched this on the forums and tried all the solutions that i found. Replacing batteries, different mouse, mouse drivers, gpu drivers, and ive also formatted windows including trying windows xp and 2000.

I have checked on the motherboard to see if the ps/2 and usb ports has come loose but seen nothing wrong.

Could this be a motherbard issue?

BTW computer specs are in the sig (athlon xp 2600)

hmm that happens sometimes when im playing games with my wireless microsoft optical.. usually its just a weak signal for me.. could probably just be the distance you're using it at.. or interferences from other sources..

Ive had problems on some surfaces, try using it on some different surfaces (like paper, wood, different mousepad) and see if it helps.

get away fro the wireless mice if you play games. I had the same problem. I went and bought a razer.

Heya

I think it could possibly be interference. I would also not get a wireless and go for a good wired mouse as far as gaming is concerned. The Razer would be a an awsome choice, as well as some Logitechs. Anyway, try to estabilish a connection between the lag and freezing and what else is running at the given moment.

Thanks for the replies. I know its not the mouse. I can use it on the other computer and it works great at short or long distances. I know now that my ps/2 mouse port will not work at all, lol.

So im pretty sure its the board, just dont know what caused it.

I would say it could be one of a couple problems. First, like others say, interference or something blocking the signal.
The second, I'm sure most people know... You don't use your optical on a mousepad right? For analog mice (the old ones), they need a perfectly smooth surface for optimum performance. Optical mice are better to use on a contoured surface. I used to use one on my old laptop with the mouse on the couch. Those are the only things I can think of, besides it perhaps being a defective unit
